Biography[]

Izumi Tomoki began drawing manga in elementary school in his notebook, which were read by his classmates. That continued throughout his school life until he turned 18 when he drew his first manga on manuscript paper.[1] That manga was then submitted to Weekly Shonen Jump where he was given an editor. At age 20 he won JUMP's monthly newcomer manga award in April 2006 for his manga Nendou.[2] He then worked 5 years as an assistant to other mangaka including Masuda Tsuyoshi. In 2018 he released Mieruko-chan on twitter as a webcomic which was later serialized into a full manga.

  • Izumi's favorite and most influential for him manga are ARMS. BLAME, and Dorehodoro.
  • By his own admission, he does not know much about horror manga and mostly read what his future wife gave him when they were still in school.
